Outreach to property owners in southern Colorado
We are reaching out to land owners located within southern Colorado that are in need of professional forestry services including the development of forest management plans and the preparation/ administration of timber sales. Forest management plans provide a roadmap for landowners that want to manage their forests and forest resources in an active, sustainable way. Forest management plans also provide necessary documentation for landowner financial assistance programs such as the Colorado Forest Ag program and carbon sequestration programs. Gila forest management expeditionary program (GFMEP)
We are seeking expressions of interest from Non-Industrial Private Forest (NIPF) landowners near and within the Gila National National Forest in southwest New Mexico in need of forest management plans (NM Forest Legacy Program) and other services including forest health assessments, implementation of small acre thinning projects, forest economic analysis, and post-wildfire recovery of the 2022 Black Fire. The origins of our company can be traced back to the Gila region therefore we strongly desire the possibility of having a long-term presence in the Gila and elsewhere in New Mexico to better serve the land and the people that helped us pursue this dream so many years ago.

Legacy Forest Management, LLC has had the pleasure of working with the residents of Zapata HOA near the Great Sand Dunes National Park for the past 5 years. Work completed in that time has included numerous thinning projects, (hazardous fuels reduction, timber stand improvement [TSI], wildfire mitigation), forest health assessments, and hazard tree removal. Veteran’s Day 2024
Legacy Forest Management was founded by Afghanistan War veteran Tyrell “Ty” Mares. Ty was active duty Army Infantry as part of the 4th Infantry Division based out of Fort Carson, CO from 2008 to 2012. The army values of loyalty, duty, respect, self-less service, honor, integrity, and personal-courage are among the core principals on which our company was founded on.
